To Think Indigenously

How many of us wear an hairstyle because an actor/cricketer has it ?

I remember, as a kid, I wanted to drink Boost only because Sachin said it was the secret of his energy. (Now, i find that it has about 25g of sugar per serving! No, i don't want that much sugar in my body, thank you.)

But seriously, think about it..Why do we do that? Why do we feel that it is better ?
We feel comfortable imitating someone else, especially if it's a celebrity.

[【 Scientifically speaking, it's because of the “Mirror neurons” in our brain. It helps us to learn new things by mimicking others. That's why children imitate their parents, superheros, and almost everything they see.. It's indeed a good thing.. and essential for self-developement, but as adults, we need to learn think beyond what we see, before imitating certain things. 】]

This is just a small example. Imagine the countless things we do.. the products that we use (fairness creams n make-ups), the food that we eat (Pizzas n burgers), the clothes we wear (torn jeans), the language we use (English), and so much more.. all of it is determined by someone else, not us, we do it because we were told it's the best thing to do, and we agreed without a thought.
Isn't that a kind of enslavement ??

I bet our grandparents and great grand parents wouldn't have given a shit about L'Oreal or Van Heusen or any other brand..  because they valued themselves more than the brand value.

Their first reaction to a KFC or a Pizza would've been, " That's nasty ! " .. because they believed that our food was the best in the world.
They would have laughed and mocked at western attires.. because they believed what we wore was much better.

Where is that confidence now?? We always feel that what we have is not good enough.

We need to learn to think for ourselves. We need to change our attitude of looking up to foreign countries.

We need to stop following actors or celebrities. We need to learn to differentiate between what is real and what is not, what we need and what we do not.
